International law firm Simmons & Simmons has announced that Oliver K. Hahnelt will be joining the firm’s Frankfurt office as a partner.
Oliver Hahnelt joins the firm from McDermott Will & Emery where he has spent the last six years as a partner, building up a leveraged finance practice covering both lenders’ and borrowers’ transactional work. Oliver focuses primarily on advising and structuring leverage finance/unitranche financings in domestic and cross-border contexts. Additionally, he has a breadth of experience in corporate lending, PIK-HoldCo structures and financial restructurings. Upon arriving at Simmons, Oliver will work closely with financial markets partners based in Frankfurt and other partners across the network, both in Germany and internationally. His team of two managing associates will be joining Simmons with him.
Welcoming Oliver to the firm, Thomas Scharfenberg, Simmons & Simmons Frankfurt office head, commented: “With Oliver’s experience across the breadth of leveraged finance mandates, he brings with him a strong multidisciplinary practice which has natural synergies with Simmons’ existing private equity and restructuring teams both in Germany and on an international scale.”
On joining the Simmons team, Oliver said: “I look forward to further extending the scope and coverage of Simmons’ banking and finance practice for clients in Germany with my expertise, serving the firm’s client base across the financial institutions sector in domestic and cross-border contexts whilst also further increasing the visibility of my leverage finance practice in the private equity sector.”
