International law firm CMS is pleased to announce four new partners in its Energy & Infrastructure Team.
Matthew Honeyben joins CMS as a partner. He has a particular focus on conventional and small modular reactor projects in developed and emerging markets and, with the current focus on new nuclear build developments across Europe, the addition of Matthew strengthens the CMS offering to clients.
Matthew will be based in London and joins from Eversheds Sutherland.
Following the firm’s recent 2023 partner promotions Matthew Brown, Davinia Cowden and Charles Dolphin have been promoted in the Energy & Infrastructure Team. Matthew Brown brings a unique energy offering to the real estate sector; Davinia Cowden’s promotion will bolster the practice focusing on the construction of energy projects; and Charles Dolphin, who is based in Oman, strengthens the practice in the Middle East.
The four partners work alongside over 450 energy lawyers across CMS, practicing in every corner of the sector worldwide helping sponsors, lenders, infrastructure funds and state-owned entities in the energy sector, and corporates, banks and funds engaging in the energy sector.
Munir Hassan, CMS global Head of Energy & Climate Change, said: “We are delighted to welcome all four new partners. With these additions to the team, it enables us to ensure our clients continue to receive the best advice suited to their commercial needs in constantly developing markets, whether this is on power projects, interconnectors, climate change, environment and grid matters, or new nuclear. The addition of Matthew Honeyben, alongside Charles, Davinia and Matthew Brown, is a reflection of the expanding and varied client priorities in the energy space which CMS is proactively ensuring it is ideally placed to support.”
Added Matthew Honeyben: “With the energy sector continuing to evolve in response to a challenging geopolitical landscape, governments across the globe are increasingly turning to nuclear to provide low carbon, baseload energy while safeguarding energy security at a national level. I’m delighted to be joining such a well-respected energy and infrastructure team at CMS and I look forward to working with my colleagues in London and internationally on the next wave of conventional and small modular reactor nuclear energy projects.”
