Simmons & Simmons Advises Greenhill & Co. International on CPPGroup Plc’s Disposal of its North American Business

Simmons & Simmons is advising Greenhill & Co. International LLP, a leading independent global investment banking firm focused on mergers and acquisitions, financial restructuring and merchant banking, as sponsor to CPPGroup Plc (“CPP”) on the disposal of CPP’s North American business for a total cash consideration of US$40 million (approximately £26.1 million). The disposal was announced on 17 April 2013.

CPP is an international life assistance business operating across 16 geographical markets.

The Simmons & Simmons team comprised Corporate partner Chris Horton, Corporate associate Stephanie Johnston and Corporate trainee Wendy Wong.

The disposal is part of a series of related measures being pursued by the board of CPP with a view to securing the future viability of CPP and its subsidiary undertakings in the interests of all stakeholders.

Commenting on the transaction, Chris Horton, said: ‘‘We are delighted to have advised Greenhill on this important transaction for CPPGroup Plc which is a first mandate for us from Greenhill.”
