A Travers Smith team, led by Private Equity partners James Renahan and Ian Shawyer, has advised Primary Capital and management on the sale of Amber Travel, the UK's leading specialist rail tour business, to ECI Partners in a transaction which values the business in excess of £50 million.
Primary Capital invested in Amber Travel in 2005 and the sale represents a successful exit for Primary Capital. During the period of Primary Capital's ownership, Amber Travel grew strongly and now offers over 300 travel itineraries across 40 countries. In 2012, approximately 50,000 customers travelled with Amber Travel.
The Travers Smith team advising on the transaction supported all selling shareholders, as well as those members of management investing in the buyer, and also consisted of Tax partners Simon Skinner and Russell Warren.
ECI Partners were advised by an Eversheds team led by Corporate partner Richard Moulton.
