PARTNER MOVES - Eversheds Sutherland increases its global employee incentives capability on appointment of new partner

Eversheds Sutherland has welcomed new employee incentives Partner, Richard Surtees, to its specialist global employee incentives team.

Richard joins from Slaughter and May where he specialised in share incentives and executive compensation matters. Prior to that, he was at US firm Covington & Burling where he trained and qualified.

Richard advises listed, private and private equity backed companies on all aspects of management and all-employee incentivisation, both in the context of corporate transactions and on an advisory basis.

He has led on the employee incentive aspects on various notable corporate transactions including public takeovers, demergers, IPOs, private company M&A, restructurings and private equity investments.

Richard also advises on the corporate governance and regulatory requirements of executive remuneration including the drafting of directors’ remuneration policies, as well as the incentive aspects of executive recruitments and terminations.

Eversheds Sutherland’s employee incentives team has advised on a number of notable matters in the last 12 months including: the takeovers of Lookers plc, OnTheMarket plc, Gresham House plc, and Accrol Group, as well as acting on private company transactions in the financial services sector for clients such as Janus Henderson.

More recently, the team has also been advising both listed and private companies headquartered across the world including in the UK, Japan, the US, Saudi Arabia, Dubai and Singapore in connection with their global incentive programs advising on all legal, tax and design aspects of this complex area and on full implementation.

Richard’s arrival follows a recent spate of appointments to the firm’s wider company commercial practice group including Partners Mohsin Abbasi, Barney Smedley and Tim Fosh.
