Proskauer, a leading international law firm, is pleased to welcome David Slotkin as an M&A partner in its Washington, D.C. office. A member of the Firm’s Real Assets Group, David brings more than 30 years of experience in real estate investment trusts (REITs), public and private real estate M&A and public and private capital raising transactions.
“David is a leader in real estate M&A, and his move to Proskauer reinforces our dedication to meeting the evolving needs of private capital clients across the M&A and real asset sectors,” said Tim Mungovan, Chairman of Proskauer. “As real estate continues to grow more attractive within the private markets, his experience across M&A, capital markets and real assets will uniquely enhance the Firm’s ability to structure sophisticated deals and discover new opportunities.”
David’s practice specializes in public and private transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, sales, divestitures, tender offers, joint ventures, spinoffs, debt and equity securities offerings, restructurings and corporate governance. He also provides strategic counsel to management teams, boards of directors, audit committees and special committees. David has extensive experience advising clients on complex transactions across all real assets classes, including digital infrastructure and hospitality, two of Proskauer’s key industry verticals. He works with both U.S. and international clients, ranging from newly formed public companies to established global brands, both benefiting from his deep expertise in complex transactions, strategic decision making, governance and compliance.
“Real estate investments have been constrained by large increases in the cost of capital as well as operations, including rising insurance and labor costs. Nevertheless, upcoming maturities, the generally rising economy and the availability of alternative private capital are priming 2025 to be an exciting and active year,” said M&A partner Jeffrey A. Horwitz, co-head of Proskauer’s Real Assets Group.
“Proskauer has one of the industry’s preeminent real asset practices. Collaborating with my colleagues across M&A as well as the Firm’s Private Funds and Private Credit practices will enable me to provide clients with an expanded range of services and strategic solutions,” said David. “I am thrilled to join a team focused on innovation, growth and client service across real assets.”
David received his Bachelor of Science in Economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a Juris Doctorate from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law.
