PARTNER MOVES - Eversheds Sutherland reaffirms its investment commitment to Germany with further strategic lateral partner hire

Eversheds Sutherland has announced the arrival of lateral partner hire Matthias Kiesewetter to its Hamburg office.

Matthias joins from international law firm White & Case, where he was partner of its Global Mergers and Acquisitions Practice Group since 2018.

Matthias brings more than 15 years of experience in advising on M&A, joint ventures, and fast-growth investments across a broad range of sectors including: technology, infrastructure, and industrials.

He is widely recognised across the industry for Public M&A, having advised bidders, targets, and banks in numerous high-profile takeover situations.

Matthias’ recent representations include M&A transactions for clients across an array of sectors and industries.

Matthias has also earned a number of industry plaudits for his work: ranked as a ‘Highly Recommended Lawyer for M&A’ by German legal industry publication, Juve, named ‘Best Lawyer Germany in M&A, Private Equity and Capital Markets’ by German business publication, Handelsblatt (2019-2024), and was listed among the ‘Top 10 M&A Lawyers in DACH’ (volume and value) by MergerLinks.

Eversheds Sutherland has made a number of strategic hires in Germany in recent years, bolstering its presence in what is a key strategic jurisdiction for the global law firm.

In 2023, the firm brought in M&A Partner Silke Gantzckow from Baker McKenzie. Several months later it welcomed Partners Daniel Ehret, Sandra Link, Hui Zhao and Christian Ostermöller from KWM (China) as part of the firm’s formal Cooperation Agreement with Eversheds Sutherland (International).

Most recently, Eversheds Sutherland appointed Corporate and M&A Partner, David Smith, also from White & Case.
