Womble Bond Dickinson announced that R. Kyle Hawes has joined the firm’s Business Litigation Practice Group as a partner in Houston. Hawes is an accomplished trial and arbitration lawyer who has first-chaired more than 40 bench and jury trials in both state and federal courts, and successfully prosecuted over seven arbitrations through the American Arbitration Association. He joins Womble from Chamberlain Hrdlicka alongside associates Ragan Robichaux and Vincent Bryan.
“Kyle’s litigation experience and leadership bring meaningful depth to our practice,” said Lisa Rushton, Co-Leader of the Business Litigation Practice Group. “He has a strong track record of guiding clients through complex disputes and supporting the development of legal talent – contributions that will benefit our clients and our firm.”
Karthika Perumal, Houston Office Managing Partner, added: “Kyle has built a strong reputation here in Houston by delivering results for a wide range of clients, from individuals and small businesses to high-profile Fortune 500 corporations. Recently, he secured a unanimous jury verdict in the 270th Harris County District Court that defeated a $ 2.5MM claim by the Plaintiffs and awarded $350,000.00 in attorney’s fees to his client on a counterclaim. That kind of result speaks volumes about his litigation skills and dedication to client success.”
Hawes represents clients across a wide range of industries including energy, real estate, construction, food and beverage, restaurant, retail, financial services, healthcare, and technology. His practice encompasses complex civil litigation, with representative matters involving breach of contract, real estate disputes, fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, negligence, product liability, construction defects, landlord-tenant disputes, premises liability, business torts, title disputes, consumer protection claims, and Texas Securities Act violations.
An active member of the legal and civic community, Hawes is a member of the American Bar Association, the Texas Association of Defense Counsel, and supports Habitat for Humanity Northwest Harris County as a corporate sponsor. A frequent speaker across Texas, Hawes has presented on topics ranging from artificial intelligence in litigation to ethics in civil engineering. He has been recognized in The Best Lawyers in America for Construction Law and is a Texas Bar Foundation Fellow.
Hawes earned his J.D., magna cum laude, from South Texas College of Law Houston and holds a B.B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin.
