International law firm Stephenson Harwood LLP has strengthened its restructuring, special situations and private capital capabilities with the arrival of Alvin Cheung. Alvin will join as a Partner in the Restructuring and Insolvency team and be based in the firm's Hong Kong office.

Alvin Cheung has extensive experience in the special situations and restructuring and insolvency spaces, focusing on the non-contentious side of the practice. His work covers debt restructurings, enforcement, strategic advice on distressed investments, special situations, and private credit matters across a broad range of geographies.

Alvin acts for a variety of stakeholders, including credit funds, asset managers, banks, creditor groups, sponsors, insolvency practitioners and distressed companies.

Stephenson Harwood is renowned for its leading contentious practice in Hong Kong's restructuring and insolvency market, said Jamie Stranger, Head of Stephenson Harwood's Greater China Restructuring and Insolvency practice. With the global economy facing significant economic challenges, Alvin's addition to the team is timely. His specialised non-contentious restructuring expertise strengthens our offering.

Julian Cahn, Stephenson Harwood’s Head of Restructuring and Insolvency, said, Alvin's skill set not only enhances the team's existing restructuring and insolvency capabilities, but also complements broader related expertise within the firm, as part of a cohesive global contentious and non-contentious team across, in particular, London, Paris, Hong Kong, and Singapore.

Alvin joins Stephenson Harwood at a pivotal time in the expansion of our practice in Greater China, said Evangeline Quek, Greater China Office Managing Partner, Stephenson Harwood.
