PARTNER MOVES - Ashurst strengthens US finance practice with partner hire in New York

26 Jun 2025

Global law firm Ashurst announces the appointment of banking and finance partner Joe Giannini in the Global Loans team, based in New York, as the firm continues to invest in and strengthen its offering in the US.

Joe's practice focuses on representing domestic and international clients in banking, finance and related transactions. He has extensive experience advising both borrowers and lenders in connection with secured and unsecured lending transactions, including syndicated credit facilities, working capital facilities, structured finance arrangements and cross-border transactions.

Commenting, Mark Edwards, head of global loans (UK/US/ME) said: As the global banking landscape continues to evolve, Joe's breadth of experience, combined with depth of knowledge of the US and international markets, will enrich our global loans practice, bringing additional firepower and greater capacity to help our clients navigate a challenging landscape. He will be a valuable addition to our team, and a great asset in driving our US practice forward.

Global CEO of Ashurst, Paul Jenkins, added: The addition of Joe and the depth of experience he brings to our global debt finance offering strengthens our market-leading finance practice worldwide. In today’s environment of heightened liquidity needs, shifting regulatory frameworks and increasingly complex cross-border capital flows, clients require sophisticated counsel that can navigate both borrower and lender perspectives. Joe's arrival reinforces our ability to continue to support our clients' needs both in the US and globally.

New York office managing partner, Sharon Kim, added: We are delighted Joe is joining our global loans practice in New York. His wide-ranging experience across the full spectrum of secured and unsecured lending, combined with his proven track record of guiding clients through complex cross-border financings, ties in perfectly with our existing US offering and responds to rising demand for tailored debt solutions in today’s fast-moving capital markets. Joe is a well-regarded practitioner, and his appointment, which follows the recent arrivals of Nick Allen, Andrea Stanovic and Juan Franco, reflects our continued investment in a finance practice that grows stronger with each new hire.

Joe said: “Ashurst’s global market standing in the banking and private capital sectors, combined with the firm’s collegiate approach, collaborative culture and growth ambitions, create a compelling proposition. There are many opportunities ahead and I look forward to working closely with all the US global loans team and with colleagues across the global network to help our clients capitalize on these.”
