DLA Piper is pleased to welcome Paul F. Wight as a Partner in the Projects and Energy practice to lead our energy regulatory team. He will be based in the Washington, DC office.
Wight’s practice focuses on issues and litigation arising out of the restructured electricity markets and new energy technologies. He also concentrates on energy transactional matters, including issues related to utility mergers, asset acquisitions and dispositions, power purchase agreements, and contracts.
Wight litigates high-profile disputes at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) related to market design and operation. He served as the former FERC Commissioner and Chairman James Danly’s Senior Legal Advisor between 2020-2024. He also assists project developers in interconnection and market participation and advises on FERC-jurisdictional transactions.
“Paul is considered the country’s leading practitioner in data center FERC litigation, which is a priority issue for our energy infrastructure clients. This experience, combined with his additional energy practice and knowledge of FERC, will be an immediate asset to our team,” said Joe Stefano, Head of the US Projects and Energy practice.
“The energy sector is poised for rapid growth and regulatory change over the next several years. Paul’s knowledge and skillset will be critical in handling this increased client demand,” said William Minor, Managing Partner of the Washington, DC office.
