Charles Russell advise on the acquisition by Broadcast Text International AB of Independent Media Support Limited and its subsidiary

17 May 2013

Charles Russell advised Broadcast Text International (BTI) on its acquisition of Independent Media Support Limited (IMS) and its subsidiary, Trosol Cyfyngedig.

IMS was founded in 1989 and has grown into the UK's largest independent provider of access and translation services for all types of media.  IMS' clients include Disney, Viacom, ORF, SwissTXT and Procter & Gamble. This offering was the perfect complement to BTI, which is already the largest provider of subtitling services in Europe.  BTI's clients include the BBC, Turner and the Discovery Channel. The deal is seen as a strategic move by BTI, which plans to enhance the existing IMS brand and allow it to further prosper in the global market. The deal was signed and completed on April 17 2013.

The acquisition involved a number of specialists within Charles Russell's TMT sector group, including corporate finance, banking, tax, real estate and employment. This multi-disciplinary approach required seamless coordination from client relationship partner, Mark Moncreiffe.

Speaking of the deal, Mark stated that, "We are proud to support BTI on it's strategic acquisition of IMS. BTI has a strong brand, with a good client base and expertise in this sector.  Acquisitions of this nature are important considerations for any company in the TMT space."

Bjorn Lifvergren, CEO at BTI, commented, "We are pleased with the service that we have received from Charles Russell during this acquisition. This was an important stage of expansion for us and it was critical that the necessary legalities were in place."

Team members included Mark Moncreiffe, Adam Fotheringham, Unkar Chanian, Ann Munro, Bethan Davies and Martin Griffiths.
