International law firm Simmons & Simmons has advised GIC Special Investments Pte Ltd on the sale of Springer Science+Business Media to BC Partners.

GIC Special Investments Pte Ltd, the private equity arm of the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation Pte Ltd, and EQT V, announced on Wednesday 19 June that they have agreed to sell Springer Science+Business Media, a leading global scientific, technical and medical publisher, to the private equity firm BC Partners Limited. The total enterprise value is stated to be around EUR 3.3bn including a performance-related component, which allows EQT V to participate further in the promising development of the company.

Springer Science+Business Media sells academic content, primarily journals, databases and books, to academic research libraries and libraries of research-intensive institutions as well as to an increasing number of corporate customers.

GIC Special Investments Pte Ltd, is one of the world's largest private equity investors, managing a multi-billion dollar portfolio of fund and direct investments on behalf of the Government of Singapore.

The transaction is subject to customary regulatory approvals and is expected to be closed in August 2013.
