Global law firm Eversheds has advised international development charity, Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) on the construction contract for its new headquarters at 100 London Road, Kingston Upon Thames. The work was carried out on a pro bono basis.
VSO recruits volunteers to combat a wide range of issues across Africa, Asia and the Pacific including climate change, access to health services and access to education.
VSO was advised by Associate Patrick Cooney. Patrick commented:
“VSO is an exemplary charity which tackles poverty through the power of volunteering. We are glad to have been able to offer our services on a pro bono basis for such a worthwhile charity.”
Jonathan Sweet, in-house counsel at VSO commented:
“As part of our ongoing commitment to minimise overheads and ensure VSO's funding is targeted in the fight against global poverty the organisation has relocated its UK office from London to Kingston.
“During this process Eversheds provided us with highly valued pro bono advice on the JCT building contract. Despite being instructed at a late stage in the process, they were swift to turn around the document and provided great support in guiding VSO through the considerable paperwork and the complexities within it.”
