SJ Berwin continues to advise longstanding client, British Land, one of the largest property development and investment companies in the United Kingdom, on a series of successful lettings as part of the ongoing regeneration of the Broadgate Estate.
Broadgate is a 30 acre fully managed estate in the heart of London's Square Mile, owned by British Land in a 50:50 joint venture with the Blackstone Group. The estate includes 16 separate buildings covering 4.0 million sq ft with a further 700,000 sq ft under development.
There has been continued excitement amongst companies seeking office space within the Broadgate Estate with recent lettings of approximately 90,000 sq ft secured at Broadgate Tower and 199 Bishopsgate including:
- Level 4, Broadgate Tower to the architectural and engineering firm Skidmore, Owings and Merrill (SOM). SOM acted as lead architect on Broadgate Tower.
- Levels 5&6, 199 Bishopsgate to Allianz creating a combined office space of circa 28,900 sq ft.
- Level 7, 199 Bishopsgate to SAS Software, one of the largest independent vendors in the business intelligence market sector, of circa 14,400 sq ft of office space.
- Level 8, 199 Bishopsgate to JX Nippon, part of the largest oil company in Japan, taking over 14,400 sq ft of office space
- Level 10, 199 Bishopsgate to the international law firm Dorsey & Whitney, of over 10,000 sq ft of office space.
Darren Rogers, Real Estate partner at SJ Berwin, said: “In addition to its recent acquisitions, British Land has been active on behalf of the joint venture in securing new lettings at the Broadgate Estate, cementing the Estates prominence in the City and its attraction to some of the largest international corporations. With lettings of more than half of the office space in 199 Bishopsgate secured this year to date and further lettings across the Estate in the offing, we remain committed to our relationship with British Land and its on-going development and revitalisation of the Broadgate Estate.”
