DLA Piper announced today that Rich Davis has joined the firm’s Corporate and Finance practice as a partner in the Washington, DC, office.
With a focus on complex leveraged and specialty debt financings, Davis represents institutional lenders, including banks, finance companies, funds and other institutional lenders, and borrowers in domestic and international finance transactions. He also advises on a broad range of corporate matters, including mergers and acquisitions and venture capital and private equity investments, as well as investment fund structuring.
“Rich’s experience complements our existing work in finance and mergers and acquisitions, bolstering our capabilities in an active and increasingly complex deal market,” said Jay Smith, chair of DLA Piper’s US Corporate and Finance practice. “The firm’s global platform will support Rich’s diverse practice and enable him to advise his international clients on a range of corporate matters.”
Prior to joining DLA Piper, Davis was a partner at Ashurst LLP. Earlier in his career, he was senior vice president and deputy chief operating officer at Promontory Interfinancial Network LLC. Davis is also a veteran of the US Army, where he served as an officer on active duty from 1994-1998 and in the US Army Reserves through 2003.
“Rich has impressive technical skills in finance that, combined with his deep industry relationships, will enhance our already strong banking, private equity and venture capital capabilities,” said Rusty Conner, managing partner of the firm’s Washington, DC, office. “We look forward to his contributions.”
Davis earned a J.D., with honors, from the University of Maryland School of Law and a B.S. from Truman State University.
