PARTNER MOVES - Jones Day adds to Private Equity Practice in London with new partner Michael Weir

18 Oct 2013

The global law firm Jones Day has announced that Michael Weir is joining the Firm's London Office as a partner in the Private Equity Practice. Mr. Weir was previously a corporate finance partner concentrating in private equity at Berwin Leighton Paisner.

"We are delighted that Michael is joining our London team. His broad range of corporate transactional experience and understanding of the international private equity industry will prove invaluable to clients operating in this market who are grappling with an increasingly complex legal environment," said Giles Elliott, leader of the Firm's U.K. Capital Markets Practice.

Mr. Weir has extensive private equity experience, having advised many of the leading private equity firms and their portfolio companies across all areas of corporate practice. His broader corporate transactional experience includes advising on a number of public takeovers, domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, corporate reorganizations, and joint ventures.

"With the appointment of Michael we are adding exceptional senior knowledge and experience to our EMEA private equity and finance practices," said Adam Greaves, leader of Jones Day's U.K. Private Equity Practice. "His impressive industry experience, particularly working with large real estate funds, will significantly add to the Firm's existing capabilities and adjacent service lines."

In August 2013, Jones Day appointed Raymond McKeeve as a Private Equity partner in the London Office. Mr. McKeeve was previously global head of Berwin Leighton Paisner's private equity practice.
