Freshfields advises Gondola on Byron sale

Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has advised The Gondola Group on the sale of Byron Hamburgers to Hutton Collins Partners for a consideration of £100 million.

Byron was founded by The Gondola Group in 2007, which is owned by funds managed and advised by Cinven Limited. In six years, Byron has rapidly grown to 34 sites and successfully transformed from an emerging concept to a proven business with exciting prospects for further growth and a well-advanced pipeline of openings. Primarily focussed on London, Byron has expanded beyond the capital with strong openings in a number of key regional cities.

Private equity partner Adrian Maguire led the Freshfields team working alongside associate Antonio Laino.

The Gondola Group is the market leader in the UK casual dining sector, operating PizzaExpress, Zizzi, ASK Italian, Milano (PizzaExpress’ brand in Ireland), Byron and Kettner’s. The Group employs over 15,000 people, and serves over 40 million meals a year in over 752 restaurants.
