Travers Smith advises the management shareholders of Burton's Biscuits on its sale to a new company backed by Ontario Teachers Pension Plan

Travers Smith Senior Partner, Chris Hale, and private equity partner Edmund Reed are leading a team advising the management shareholders of biscuit maker Burton's Biscuits on its sale to a new company backed by Canadian private equity firm Ontario Teachers Pension Plan ("Teachers").

The Travers Smith team is also advising the management team of Burton's Biscuits on its new equity arrangements with Teachers.  The team includes Corporate associates Hannah Sher and Jo Strycharczyk, Tax partner Kathleen Russ and senior Tax associate Hannah Manning.

Burton's Biscuits employs 2,000 people and posted recent annual sales of more than £340million. It has some of the UK's best-known biscuit brands including Cadbury Fingers, Maryland Cookies, Jammie Dodgers, Wagon Wheels and Lyons. 

Teachers is being represented by Gavin Gordon of Kirkland & Ellis.  The selling investors, and the sellers generally, are being represented by Carlton Evans of Linklaters.
