Mills & Reeve advised Ubisense Group plc on its acquisition of Japanese company Geoplan Interworks K.K. for a maximum consideration of 564.7m Japanese Yen (c.£3.4m).
The Mills & Reeve team led on the UK aspects of the transaction with support from their SCG Legal relationship firm in Japan, Matsuo & Kosugi, who advised on the transaction from a Japanese perspective.
Ubisense is a world leader in providing end-to-end real-time location solutions to companies, allowing them to track people and assets with a high degree of accuracy. For Ubisense, the acquisition of Geoplan Interworks represents a significant step forward as it looks to expand its business into Asia. Ubisense believes that the enhanced local exposure to manufacturers in Japan and Korea in particular will provide a huge market for its products.
Mills & Reeve has advised Ubisense since 2010, most notably through the company's AIM IPO in 2011 and on two other acquisitions since its admission to AIM.
