K&L Gates Advises Brightstar Corp. on Major Pan-European Acquisition

London - Global law firm K&L Gates LLP has advised Brightstar Corp., the world’s largest wireless distribution company and a leader in services for the wireless industry, on the acquisition of 20:20 Mobile.

20:20 Mobile is a leading provider of distribution and integrated supply chain solutions to the European mobile industry with more than 3,500 customers and an annual turnover of almost £1bn.

The transaction involves facilities in the UK, Spain, Hungary, Portugal, Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden and includes the purchase of all outstanding shares of Chicago Group Limited, the parent company of 20:20 Mobile. The acquisition is expected to close early in the first quarter of 2014 pending certain conditions, with the acquired business renamed “Brightstar 20:20.”

K&L Gates is a long-standing advisor to Brightstar, with Miami partner Clay Parker having advised the company for 15 years. The London office also advised Brightstar on its acquisition of MPX last year.

London partner Jeremy Davis managed a large London deal team that included corporate partner Alex Gibson, corporate associates Patrick Eaton and Jennifer Lovesy, finance partner Richard Hardwick, financial services partner Philip Morgan, employment partner Paul Callegari, competition partner Neil Baylis, and insurance associate Frank Thompson, as well as a large team of local counsel. The K&L Gates team also worked closely with Aaron Schapiro and Paula Pescaru of the Brightstar law department.
