Freshfields advises Emirates NBD on acquisition of majority stake in BNP Paribas Egypt

Leading international law firm, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has advised UAE banking group Emirates NBD on its acquisition of a 95.2% stake in BNP Paribas Egypt. In line with Emirates NBD’s plans for regional expansion, the deal will greatly expand the bank’s corporate and retail offering and give it a strategic presence in the key Egyptian banking market

Norton Rose advises on Wakefield Waste PFI

International legal practice Norton Rose has advised the UK Green Investment Bank, Barclays Bank, BayernLB and SMBC as lenders to the Wakefield waste Private Finance Initiative (PFI), a municipal waste facility located in South Kirkby.

The lenders will provide banking facilities of over £100 million to project sponsor Shanks Group for the project, which will be capable of treating up to 230,000 tonnes of waste annually. The waste will be provided by the Council of the City of Wakefield.

SNR Denton Wins Interest Rate Swaps Case for RBS

London, 15 January 2013 - SNR Denton has advised The Royal Bank of Scotland plc (RBS) in defending a claim regarding the alleged mis-sale of an interest rate swap.

Mr Green and Mr Rowley, the claimants, suggested that RBS had breached its duties in selling the swap in May 2005. The Judge, Waksman HHJ, sitting in the Manchester Mercantile Court, dismissed the claim in its entirety. The court held that RBS did not owe a duty to advise its customers in relation to the swap and complied with the obligation to clearly explain how the swap worked.

International law firm Berwin Leighton Paisner (BLP) has advised CIT Aerospace & Defense Finance part of CIT Group Inc., a global leader in transportation finance, on a US$125m credit facility to UK based aviation spares specialist A J Walter Aviation (AJW).

The senior secured credit facility will be used to support spare parts acquisitions to service AJW’s rapidly growing customer portfolio and on-going growth objectives.

Watson, Farley & Williams (“WFW”), a leading international law firm, is pleased to announce that it has advised the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) on its financing provided to JSC Circle Maritime Invest (????? ???????? ??????), (CMI).

CMI is a marine services company incorporated in Kazakhstan and the facility is secured over a Kazakhstan-flagged vessel operating in the Caspian Sea.

Drawdown under the facility took place on 27 December 2012.
