Ascent Real Estate Investors and Sigma Delta Partners Investment Form a Consortium for US$1.34 Billion Acquisition of Dinghao Electronics Plaza in Beijing

Hong Kong, Beijing and Shanghai – Paul Hastings LLP, a leading global law firm, announced today that the firm jointly represented Ascent Real Estate Investors (ARE) and Sigma Delta Partners Investment (SDP Investment) in the formation of an institutional investor consortium and the consortium’s US$1.34 billion acquisition of Dinghao Electronics Plaza, a landmark complex located in the core area of Zhongguancun, Beijing. The transaction is one of the largest-ever foreign investor acquisitions of a Beijing commercial real estate asset.

BAUMONT REAL ESTATE CAPITAL RAISES €337 MILLION IN DEBUT FUND

The London Real Estate Investment Funds team advised on the establishment of the Baumont platform and subsequently on the structuring and establishment of Baumont’s first European real estate fund, Baumont Real Estate One ScSp, raising €337 million, including €25 million of discretionary co-investment capital. The fund focuses on opportunistic equity and equity-like real estate strategies including office, residential, logistics, retail and other commercial real estate located primarily in France and the U.K.

Clifford Chance advises Blackstone and Embassy on India's first ever REIT

Leading international law firm Clifford Chance has advised Blackstone and Bangalore-based developer Embassy Property Developments PVT Limited on India’s first real estate investment trust, Embassy Office Parks REIT, for an initial public offering of US$690 million (47.5 billion rupees). The IPO was 2.57 times oversubscribed.

TLT advises on £30m redevelopment funding for Swan Housing Association

TLT has advised long-standing client Swan Housing Association Limited on a £30m funding from Homes England, the government's housing delivery agency.

The funds will be used to redevelop the Beechwood Village (formerly known as Craylands) and Laindon Shopping Centre in Basildon, Essex.

Swan has been working with Basildon Borough Council on the site since 2006. The new funding will be used to build more than 760 new homes including up to 110 affordable homes using modular construction, and almost 8,000 square metres of retail and commercial space.

Charles Russell Speechlys has advised Derwent London on all of the pre-lettings at the Brunel Building

Charles Russell Speechlys and Mishcon de Reya have worked together to advise Derwent London on all of the pre-lettings of the office space at the Brunel Building which includes the new UK headquarters for Sony Pictures Entertainment, The Premier League, Coach and private equity house Hellman & Friedman.

The landmark Paddington development comprises 243,000 sq ft of office space spread over 16 storeys which is encased in an external structure allowing column free internal areas.

Ashurst advises Tristan and Barings on the acquisition of 34 cold food storage facilities from Nagel Group

Ashurst advised Barings and Tristan-managed fund CCP 5 LL on the acquisition of 34 logistics facilities for cold foods from Nagel. The transaction was conducted by way of a sale & leaseback deal. The portfolio comprises 260,000 sqm located in Germany and Denmark. CCP 5 LL acquires 27 objects with 180,000 sqm rental space in total. Barings acquires seven objects in Germany for a core investment client and will provide the asset management services for the overall portfolio. 

Macfarlanes advises Supermarket Income REIT plc on follow-on fundraising under £150m share issuance programme

Macfarlanes has advised supermarket real estate investor Supermarket Income REIT plc on its £45m Specialist Fund Segment follow-on fundraising. The fundraising was made as part of the share issuance programme initiated by the company in April 2018.
Against a backdrop of a challenging market, the company upsized its fundraise from an initial target of £25m due to investor demand. This fundraise gives the company a total market capitalisation of well over £200m.

Benson Elliot and Walton Street Capital Sell Last Hotel from Host Portfolio

London – Paul Hastings LLP, a leading global law firm, announced today that it has advised a joint venture between private equity real estate fund managers, UK-based Benson Elliot and US-based Walton Street Capital, in partnership with Schroders, on the corporate sale of the Sheraton Warsaw to Patron Capital.

The sale of the Sheraton Warsaw was the last from a portfolio which the joint venture acquired in 2015 from Host Hotels, which consisted of eight prime hotels in seven major cities across five countries.

Blackstone to Acquire AYUMI Pharmaceutical

Simpson Thacher is representing Blackstone in connection with its acquisition of the entire equity stake in AYUMI Pharmaceutical. The acquisition will mark Blackstone’s first control private equity investment in Japan. The transaction is expected to close in the second quarter of 2019 and is subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions.

AYUMI Pharmaceutical is a leading specialty pharmaceutical company in Japan focused on Anti-Rheumatism and Orthopedics.
