DLA Piper advises Indigo Invest on commercial building sale in Cologne

DLA Piper has advised real estate investment company Indigo Invest on the sale of a commercial building located on Neumarkt, in the center of Cologne. The property was acquired by international investment manager AEW for the German real estate special fund "AEW City Office Germany". The purchase price is undisclosed.
 
The fully let, five-storey building was thoroughly refurbished by Indigo Invest in 2013 and 2018. It has a floor area of approximately 8,200 square metres which is divided into office and retail spaces.

Shakespeare Martineau advises on land sale for Europa Way scheme

Our commercial property team in Stratford upon Avon supported Galliford Try Partnerships on the land sale for the latest stage of the Europa Way development, between Leamington Spa and Warwick. Shakespeare Martineau advised on the land acquisition and planning aspects of the scheme.

This stage of the development will see a considerable housing boost for the local area and is due to be finalised in six years’ time with an estimated worth of in excess of £100 million.

The buildings are located in the UK Russell Group cities of Bristol, Cardiff, Newcastle and Nottingham and total over 1,850 beds.

WFW advises Greencoat on acquisition of CEE’s UK PV portfolio

Watson Farley & Williams (“WFW”) advised Greencoat Capital (“Greencoat”) on its acquisition, via its 25-year fund Greencoat Solar Assets II Limited, of the UK PV portfolio of Germany’s CEE Group.
 
The portfolio comprises the Bicester, Clinton and Homestead PV farms in England, with a total installed capacity of 60.4 MW. CEE will continue to manage the three farms, all of which it acquired from developer BayWa, having opted to divest itself of said assets to focus on its core business in Germany and France.

Fieldfisher advises on seminal Court of Appeal construction dispute case

Decision handed down on 24 January 2019 creates new law on whether or not a construction dispute can be referred to adjudication when one of the parties is in insolvent liquidation or a CVA.

 

European law firm Fieldfisher has acted in a pivotal case just decided by the Court of Appeal, which resolves the basic incompatibility between the insolvency "netting off" and adjudication regimes.

 

Taylor Wessing advises Tritax Big Box REIT on £370m acquisition of db Symmetry

Taylor Wessing has advised Tritax Big Box REIT plc ("Tritax") on its acquisition of an 87% economic interest in db Symmetry, which owns one of the UK’s largest strategic land portfolios for the development of Big Box real estate assets and related logistics facilities.

The acquisition, which attributes an enterprise value of £370 million to db Symmetry, is being funded with a mixture of equity and cash raised pursuant to a placing and open offer underwritten by Jefferies.

According to experts, it was among the largest domestic real estate deals last year. S + B Gruppe AG, a private developer with offices in Vienna, Prague, Bucharest and Warsaw, has been implementing complex projects for over 30 years, working in the real estate sector as an investor and general contractor.

Stephenson Harwood advises on largest UK healthcare REITs merger

Law firm Stephenson Harwood LLP has advised Nexus Tradeco Limited (Nexus), in its role as property manager of Primary Health Properties (PHP), on the merger of PHP and Medicx – creating Britain’s largest healthcare real estate investment trust.

 

The combined group will hold a portfolio of 479 properties in the UK, rented to primary care providers, with a value of £2.3 billion. Nexus, the UK-based property management services, will provide property management, administrative and advisory support to the enlarged group.

 

LATHAM & WATKINS ADVISES ON VIA CÉLERE’S ACQUISITION OF LAND BANK ASSETS FROM AELCA

Via Célere, a Spanish residential property developer owned by investment firm Värde Partners, has acquired the land bank assets of Aelca, another residential developer and asset manager in Spain.

Following the transaction, Via Célere will be the country’s largest residential real estate developer with a gross asset value of over €2.2 billion, positioned to deliver an estimated 2000 housing units in 2019 with the ability to deliver 5000 units by 2021.
