Ascent Real Estate Investors and Sigma Delta Partners Investment Form a Consortium for US$1.34 Billion Acquisition of Dinghao Electronics Plaza in Beijing

Hong Kong, Beijing and Shanghai – Paul Hastings LLP, a leading global law firm, announced today that the firm jointly represented Ascent Real Estate Investors (ARE) and Sigma Delta Partners Investment (SDP Investment) in the formation of an institutional investor consortium and the consortium’s US$1.34 billion acquisition of Dinghao Electronics Plaza, a landmark complex located in the core area of Zhongguancun, Beijing. The transaction is one of the largest-ever foreign investor acquisitions of a Beijing commercial real estate asset.

Dentons advises Sonco Gaming on the £35 million acquisition of Maxims Casino Club in London

London—Dentons has advised Sonco Gaming Inc., the Canadian casino management and development group representing a consortium of international investors, on the acquisition of Maxims Casino Club in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea for £35 million. Maxims is one of only five designated high end casinos in the UK and was acquired from Genting, the Malaysian owned leisure and hospitality group.

Taylor Wessing has advised Canadian live event and video production company, Ross Video, on its acquisition of Piero Sports Graphics business from Red Bee Media, a subsidiary of Ericsson.

Used by high profile broadcasters and sports clubs, Piero Sports Graphics is a sports analysis toolset providing new angles and virtual views of events through 3D graphics and image recognition.

Ashurst advises Tristan and Barings on the acquisition of 34 cold food storage facilities from Nagel Group

Ashurst advised Barings and Tristan-managed fund CCP 5 LL on the acquisition of 34 logistics facilities for cold foods from Nagel. The transaction was conducted by way of a sale & leaseback deal. The portfolio comprises 260,000 sqm located in Germany and Denmark. CCP 5 LL acquires 27 objects with 180,000 sqm rental space in total. Barings acquires seven objects in Germany for a core investment client and will provide the asset management services for the overall portfolio.

Slaughter and May advised a Hong Kong private investor on the acquisition of Standbrook House, Old Bond Street for £152.5 million from NFU Mutual. Standbrook House is a mixed use building comprising retail, offices and residential. The retail units house the UK flagship stores of Tod’s and Richard Mille.

Linklaters advised Patron Capital, a European private equity real estate fund on the acquisition of the 5-star Sheraton Hotel in the centre of Warsaw. The transaction was closed today after the prior receipt of the merger clearance from the European Commission. Our lawyers also worked on the preparation of loan documentation under which the acquisition was financed. The Sheraton Hotel in Warsaw is one of four Sheraton hotels in Poland and is a popular meeting venue for business executives and diplomats in Warsaw.

Herbert Smith Freehills has advised Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) on its acquisition and development of the Lostock Sustainable Energy Plant which, when operational, will be one of the UK and Europe's largest energy-from-waste (EfW) plants.

The £480 million Lostock Sustainable Energy Plant project has been given the green light for construction by owners CIP (60 percent) and FCC Environment (40 percent) after the project reached financial close on 26 March 2019.

Gide has advised Ak Gida Sanayi ve Ticaret A.S. (Turkish affiliate of Lactalis) on the acquisition of two dairy production facilities belonging to Gurler Group located in Tire/Izmir.

Being one of the most important players in the Turkish dairy products market with well-known brands Icim and Dolcia, Ak Gida aims to sustain its strong position and provide customers with a wider varity of products.

After obtaining of a series of regulatory approvals, the transaction was closed on 5 March 2019.
