Leading Global law firm Baker & McKenzie has advised Deka Immobilien on the purchase the Utoschloss building, paving the business's introduction into Switzerland. The historic and protected building is a highly sought-after piece of real estate, leased out as office space. The Utoschloss building will be brought into the portfolio of public real estate fund Deka-ImmobilienEuropa.

WFW advises Denmark’s PKA on first ever biomass plant investment

International law firm Watson Farley & Williams (“WFW”) successfully advised PKA, one of Denmark’s leading pension funds, on its acquisition of a 50% stake in the Teesside Renewable Energy Plant in the North-East of England, which is its first ever investment in the biomass sector and is in line with its stated support for mitigating climate change. The investment bank Macquarie Capital will hold the remaining 50%, and the total in investment in the plant anticipated to be in the region of £900m.

Norton Rose Fulbright advises Litos Immobilien AG on the acquisition of office buildings in Oberhaching industrial park

Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright has advised real estate company Litos Immobilien AG on the purchase of three office properties in Oberhaching industrial park, with an area of approximately 14,400 sqm.

Munich-based asset manager Kriton Immobilien GmbH facilitated the sale of the office properties from a private owner. Litos plans to modernize and keep the properties which are currently fully let.

DWF advises Arch Northumberland on its largest North West deal of the year

Arch Northumberland has completed its largest acquisition to date with the £78m purchase of Manor Walks Shopping Centre in Cramlington.

The 350,000 sq ft shopping centre, which is anchored by Sainsbury’s, Asda, Wilkinson and Vue Cinema, was bought from Hammerson. The price is understood to reflect a net yield of 7.1%.

Arch intends to immediately improve and extend the centre to provide bigger, better retail and leisure facilities and additional car parking.

Hannes Snellman acted as counsel to Avant Capital Partners and Alma Property Partners I AB, a fund managed by Alma Property Partners, in their acquisition of the Ideapark Oulu shopping centre from Sukari Group. The property with approx. 30.000 sqm gross area has been let to multiple high-profile tenants like H&M, Lindex, Cubus, Dressmann, and Stadium.

WFW advises Global Ports Holding on Venice cruise port acquisitions

International law firm Watson Farley & Williams (“WFW”) has successfully advised Global Ports Holding (“GPH”), the world’s largest cruise port operator, on the acquisition of two significant stakes in Venezia Terminal Passeggeri S.p.A (“Venezia Terminal Passeggeri”) made via Venezia Investimenti S.r.l., which is jointly owned in equal shares by GPH and fellow industry leaders Costa Crociere, MSC Cruises SA and Royal Caribbean.

Cadwalader Advises on the First Property Acquisition Transaction Outside of Greater China for a Hong Kong REIT

Cadwalader successfully advised New Century Asset Management Limited, manager of the Hong Kong-listed New Century Real Estate Investment Trust (New Century REIT), on its €28.9 million acquisition of Holiday Inn Eindhoven in the Netherlands. The transaction closed on 9 August 2016.

This is the first time that a Hong Kong-listed REIT successfully acquired overseas property situated outside of Greater China.
