DLA Piper and Linklaters advise on Sheffield Wednesday takeover

DLA Piper and Linklaters have together advised Mr Dejphon Chansiri on his acquisition of Sheffield Wednesday Football Club, from Milan Mandaric.

DLA Piper partners Jon Kenworthy and Rob McKie acted as English legal counsel, whilst Linklaters Bangkok partner Pichitpon Eammongkolchai acted as Thai legal counsel to Mr Dejphon Chansiri, whose family owns John West and Chicken of the Sea company Thai Union Group in Sheffield and in London.

Squire Patton Boggs corporate partner David Hull advised Milan Mandaric on the transaction.

Linklaters advise on Sheffield Wednesday takeover

Linklaters has advised Mr Dejphon Chansiri on his acquisition of Sheffield Wednesday Football Club, from Milan Mandaric. Mr Chansiri is a distinguished businessman in Thailand whose family control the Thai Union Frozen Group, the world’s largest producer of tuna as well as one of the biggest worldwide general seafood producers. 

Linklaters advised on the financing aspect of the acquisition. 

DLA Piper advises LBBW Immobilien on real estate acquisition

DLA Piper has advised LBBW Immobilien Management GmbH (LBBW Immobilien) on the acquisition of an office real estate portfolio with 10 office properties in Munich and the direct surroundings. An agreement has been reached not to disclose the purchase price.

The LBBW Immobilien subsidiary LBBW Immobilien Asset Management GmbH, which was newly founded on 1 January 2015 will be responsible for administration of the properties. This subsidary will also carry out further development on the buildings in the coming years through active asset management.

Travers Smith advises Bridgepoint on the acquisition of Zizzi and ASK

Travers Smith LLP has advised the leading European private equity firm Bridgepoint on the acquisition of ASK Italian and Zizzi restaurants from private equity house Cinven.

This transaction represents Cinven's complete exit from its investment in the Gondola Group, the market leader in the UK casual dining sector, following the sale of the Pizza Express and Byron restaurant brands.

Mayer Brown advises Gaw Capital on Ping An Insurance purchase of Tower Place

Mayer Brown has advised Gaw Capital Partners, the Hong Kong-based real estate private equity firm, on the purchase and financing of London’s Tower Place on behalf of Ping An Insurance.

Tower Place is the second landmark property Gaw Capital has acquired on behalf of Ping An, China’s second-largest insurer, following its acquisition of the iconic Lloyd’s building for £260 million, on which Mayer Brown also advised.

Woonstad Rotterdam buys Stadswonen from Vestia

NautaDutilh's Real Estate team assisted Woonstad Rotterdam in the take-over of more than 7,000 units from Vestia's housing corporation Stadswonen. The sale will be completed in May 2015.

Stadswonen Vestia provides accommodation to students and other youngsters, especially on the so-called KennisAs ('Knowledge axis'). The sale consists of more than 6,000 rooms, studios and appartments and 1,000 office spaces and parking places. Woonstad has the objective to bind talented young people to the city of Rotterdam and providing appropriate housing is part of its strategy.

Japanese real estate investment company acquires shopping mall “stilwerk” in Berlin

A BLP team led by real estate partner Carsten Bremer advised NIS ARB EDO on the acquisition of the interior design shopping mall “stilwerk” in Berlin

NIS ARB EDO is a real estate investment company mainly financed by Japanese institutional investors. NIS ARB EDO instructed Berwin Leighton Paisner (Germany) LLP for the first time to provide legal advice. Commercial consultation on the acquisition was provided by ARB Asset Management in Berlin.

Setterwalls has assisted ewz on its acquisition of wind farms from Eolus Vind AB

Setterwalls has assisted ewz (elektrizitatswerk der stadt Zurich) on its acquisition of wind farms Ramsnas, Mungserod , Alered and Skalleberg from Eolus Vind AB (publ). All the parks except Skalleberg are constructed.

The purchase price amounts to EUR 95 million . Setterwalls has assisted in the acquisition and financing as well as in the acquirer's establishment of a consortium with Aquila Capital.

Setterwalls' team consisted of Jonas Frii, Elin Hjort, Jonas Soderstjerna, Kristoffer Stahl and Oskar Svenburg.

Shoosmiths advises Park Holidays on acquisition Broadland Sands Holiday Park

Shoosmiths has advised Park Holidays UK Limited on the acquisition of Broadland Sands Holiday Park and the simultaneous disposal of Riviera Bay and Landscove Holiday Parks.

Park Holidays are the largest operator of parks in the south of England with 24 parks stretching from Devon in the west to Suffolk in the east. They will continue to run Riviera Bay and Landscove Holiday Parks.
