Fast work as Shoosmiths completes multi-million pound office sale

Shoosmiths real estate specialists have advised on the multi-million pound sale and leaseback of a client's multi-let freehold office building.

The national law firm completed the sale for Novell UK Limited, an Attachmate Group company.

Associate Simon Shoefield led a Shoosmiths real estate team that included solicitor Georgina Watt, and which provided employment advice through solicitor Jennifer Featherstone.

They had just 10 working days to complete the sale of 1 Arlington Square, Bracknell, in Berkshire.

Freshfields advises on sale of QMH Germany's hotel portfolio to Fattal Hotel group

In one of the largest hotel portfolio deals in recent years, Freshfields advised QMH Ltd. on the sale of QMH Germany to Israel-based Fattal Hotel Group and other international investors.

International law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has advised QMH Ltd. on the sale of Queens Moat Houses Holding GmbH (Germany), a company holding and operating a large portfolio of German hotels, to Israel-based Fattal Hotel group and further investors. The transaction is one of the largest hotel portfolio deals in recent years.

DLA Piper advises ESPN on sale of UK and Ireland TV channels to BT Group

DLA Piper has represented ESPN on the acquisition of its UK and Ireland TV business, including its live sports rights portfolio, by BT Group. Under the terms of the deal, BT will acquire the ESPN and ESPN America channels in the UK and Ireland and broadcast rights to the FA Cup, Clydesdale Bank Scottish Premier League, UEFA Europa League and the German Bundesliga.

The deal by China Overseas Holdings to buy One Finsbury Circus comes less than two years after Invesco purchased the site from Hermes Real Estate for £141.5 million in June 2011 (27 June 2011).

SJ Berwin advised longstanding client Invesco, fielding lead partner Darren Rogers, a real estate specialist. He worked alongside corporate real estate partner Michael Goldberg, tax partner Giles Bavister, real estate associate Patrick Williams and corporate associate Barri Mendelsohn.

BLP advises Carrizo Oil & Gas on US$184m sale of interest

International law firm, Berwin Leighton Paisner (BLP), has acted for NASDAQ listed Carrizo Oil & Gas, Inc. (Carrizo) on the US$184m sale of its interest in the North Sea Huntington Field to TSX listed Iona Energy Inc. (Iona).

Carrizo is a Houston-based energy company engaged in the exploration, development and production of oil and natural gas in the US and the UK.

Norton Rose advises HgCapital on sale of UK onshore wind portfolio

London: A Corporate team from international legal practice Norton Rose has advised European private equity firm HgCapital on the sale of its UK onshore wind portfolio.

HgCapital has recently completed the sale of its 177 Mega Watt (MW) development portfolio, including the developer RidgeWind, to Blue Energy, a UK-based renewable energy investor and developer.

Two of the RidgeWind projects are about to become operational: Hall Farm, a 24.6 MW wind farm near Beverley, in Yorkshire, and Wandylaw, a 20.5 MW wind farm north of Alnwick, Northumberland.

Clifford Chance advised Morgan Stanley Real Estate Investment GmbH, Frankfurt am Main, on the sale of the office complex "Fleetrand" located in Hamburg.

The real property was sold by open-ended real estate investment fund "Morgan Stanley P2 Value" (under liquidation) to HIH Hamburgische Immobilien Handlung who acquired the real property for a special fund of Warburg-Henderson.
