Kirkland & Ellis Advises Toys'R'Us on Sale of Stores in the DACH Region

Kirkland & Ellis is advising Toys'R'Us on the sale of its stores in the DACH region to Irish-British toy retailer Smyths. The transaction volume was not disclosed.

In September 2017, the US toy retail chain Toys'R'Us filed for voluntary Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. In March 2018, the company announced it would close stores in the United States and the United Kingdom and seek a buyer for its stores in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Toys'R'Us entered the German market in 1986 and is one of the largest toy retailers in the German-speaking countries.

Completed in the last quarter of 2017, Green2Day is a high-quality office property offering over 18,000 sq. m. gross leasable area to tenants such as Ultimo, Tieto and KPMG. The building also offers co-working and short-term lease solutions.

Alpha Investment Sells Shanghai Mixed-Use Property

Paul Hastings, a leading global law firm, announced today that the firm advised ALPHA Asia Macro Trends Fund II, a private fund managed by Singapore-based Alpha Investment Partners Limited (“Alpha Investment”), in the sale of Shanghai International Plaza, an office-and-retail property, to LaSalle Investment Management. Alpha Investment, a premier asset manager in Asia, is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Keppel Capital Holdings Pte. Ltd.

CMS advises DIC Asset AG on successful onward sale of DIC HighStreet Balance institutional fund

Frankfurt/Main – SDAX-listed real estate company DIC Asset AG has for the first time re-sold a fund under its management by selling units to Swiss Life Deutschland. The parties agreed not to disclose details of the transaction value.

A CMS team headed by lead partner Heinrich Schirmer advised DIC Asset AG on all aspects of negotiating the purchase and transfer agreement and the special investment law aspects of selling the fund units.

Dentons advises mining giant Rio Tinto on the sale of three European assets to Norsk Hydro

Dentons advised Anglo-Australian mining giant Rio Tinto on the sale of three European assets to the Norwegian aluminum company Norsk Hydro. The transaction, valued at US$345 million, includes Rio Tinto's ISAL smelter in Iceland, its 53.3% interest in the Aluchemie anode plant in the Netherlands, and its 50% interest in the aluminum fluoride plant in Sweden.

Ashurst advises Ardian on the sale of six solar photovoltaic plants

Ashurst has advised Ardian on the sale, through 3 New Srl, of six solar photovoltaic plants in Italy to F2i Sgr, through F2i Energie Rinnovabili Srl.

The projects are located in Emilia Romagna, Puglia and Sicily, and have a combined capacity of 51.5 MW.

The Ashurst team was led by partner Carloandrea Meacci, assisted by associates Flavia Calò and Pamela Infantino. Counsel Annamaria Pinzuti advised on the M&A aspects of the transaction with counsel Elena Giuffrè advising on the administrative law aspects.
