The Banking & Finance team of Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner (Russia) LLP, formerly Goltsblat BLP in Russia, has acted successfully for the Far East and Baikal Region Development Fund on a RUB 2 bn secured loan for construction of a new terminal at Khabarovsk International Airport servicing domestic flights and the airport infrastructure.

DWF Italy advises GILDEMEISTER on the building of a solar project in Mongolia

DWF Italy has advised GILDEMEISTER energy solutions GmbH, a manufacturer of machine tools and provider of integrated technology and automation solutions, in building the world's first utility scale solar project on a 330ha area in the Gobi Desert, Mongolia.

The project, which will be connected to the Mongolian power grid, boasts a performance of 30 MW and will produce 57,000 MWh a year. This will provide 27000 homes in the neighbouring city, Sainshand, with renewable energy and reduce CO² emissions compared to the homes being powered by conventional energy methods.

Norton Rose Fulbright advises on financing of 81MW Hedet Wind Power Project in Finland

Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright has advised KFW IPEX Bank GmbH and Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken AB (PUBL) on the financing of the Hedet wind power project, which has been developed by Neoen and Prokon Finland. The financing was signed on December 19, 2018.

Hedet wind farm is based in Finland, and the output of the farm will be sold to Google under a corporate PPA. The wind farm will generate 81MW of electricity, with Nordex acting as turbine supplier and EPC contractor.

Herbert Smith Freehills has advised Lendlease Corporation Limited (Lendlease) on its role as sponsor in relation to the RM2.15 billion (A$742 million) financing of the Tun Razak Exchange (TRX) Lifestyle Quarter development in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The TRX Lifestyle Quarter is a mixed integrated development and comprises residential, entertainment, leisure, public park, hotel and retail components. It is Lendlease’s largest integrated development in Asia.

Norton Rose Fulbright advises on Japanese financing for Angolan port upgrade

Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright has advised the Ministry of Finance of Angola on the financing of commercial contracts for the expansion and modernisation of the Port of Namibe in Angola. The multi-tranche credit line of several hundred million US Dollars is provided by Japanese Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) and other Japanese financial institutions, with support from Nippon Export and Investment Insurance (NEXI). The transaction marks a key milestone in the relationship between Angola and Japan.

International law firm Ashurst advised French asset manager Omnes Capital on its partnership, through managed fund Construction Energie Plus (CEP), with insurance company L'Auxiliaire, real estate asset manager Foncière Magellan and construction group Patriarca, in view of the acquisition, through their joint venture company Green Campus, of the majority of the buildings in the Moulin à Vent business park. This acquisition is one of the most significant real estate deals in the Lyon region in 2018.

WFW advises MSC Cruises on financing agreements for development of Ocean Cay Project

(“MSC Cruises”), the world’s fourth largest cruise operator, regarding two loan facilities for the development of its private resort island in the Bahamas known as “MSC Ocean Cay Marine Reserve” (“Ocean Cay”). The financing arrangements consist of:

a €100m Bpifrance Assurance Export backed facility agreement with HSBC France and Unicredit Bank AG as mandated lead arrangers and HSBC France as facility agent; and

Watson Farley & Williams (“WFW”) advised long-standing client MSC Cruises on a €2.524bn financing package for three new vessels, MSC World Class 1 and 2 and a fifth vessel in their Meraviglia Class of ships. The financing structure provides construction financing for the Vessels as well as post-delivery financing in respect of 80% of the total cost of construction of the three vessels.
