Baker McKenzie Advised ONEE on First Wind Farm Project to Reach Financial Close Under the €1 billion, 850W Integrated Wind Program

Leading global law firm Baker McKenzie advised Moroccan utility Office National de l’Électricité et de l’Eau Potable (ONEE) on the on the €230 million, 180MW Midelt Wind Farm in Morocco, which reached financial close on 8 November 2018, with a sponsor consortium of ENEL Green Power (ITA) and Nareva Holding (MOR) and ONEE. The financing was provided to the ONEE by international institutions including KfW, EU and the EIB and on-lent by the ONEE to the project company.  ONEE will purchase electricity produced by the wind farm under a 20-year PPA.

BCLP acts for Regent’s Crescent Group on over £350m of sharia compliant financings

International law firm Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner (BCLP) has advised Regent’s Crescent Property Holding (Lease B) Limited on a range of sharia compliant senior and mezzanine facilities in excess of £350m to finance its high-end Regent’s Crescent residential development.

The facilities, which will finance the redevelopment of the John Nash designed, Grade 1 listed, properties overlooking Regent’s Park into luxury apartments and mews houses include:

    a senior development facility of £295m;

WFW advises Nord/LB on project financing of one of Europe’s largest onshore wind clusters

Watson Farley & Williams (“WFW”) advised Norddeutsche Landesbank (“Nord/LB”) on the project financing of Sweden’s second largest onshore wind farm, and one of Europe’s largest onshore wind clusters. The financing includes an envisaged ECA backing by Germany’s Euler Hermes.

On 13 November, our Madrid Finance team led by partner Fernando Navarro completed our advise to Caixabank, S.A. and Allianz in relation to the syndicated financing of up to €135,000,000 granted by Caixabank and Allianz to Espacio Caleido, S.A. for the construction and operation of the Fifth Tower (in Spanish La Quinta Torre) to be called "Caleido", to be located in the Cuatro Torres Business Center Area in Madrid, consisting of:

    A tower with a GLA of approximately 50,500 sqm. fully leased to Instituto de Empresa University ("IEU").

King & Spalding Advises JBIC and ADB on Financing for 2,500MW Power Plant in Thailand

King & Spalding represented the Japan Bank for International Cooperation and Asian Development Bank (ADB) on project finance facilities for the 2,500MW Gulf SRC Gas-Fired Combined Cycle Power Plant Project in Thailand that signed on 2 November 2018. JBIC and ADB were the largest lenders each lending $227 million out of an overall co-financing amount of approximately $1.299 billion.

Norton Rose Fulbright advises on the financing for the construction of the first eco-friendly Ro/Ro Pax ferry to sail the Mediterranean

Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright has advised a consortium of banks including UniCredit SpA, Mediocredito Italiano SpA and Banca IMI SpA on the financing to Italy’s Caronte & Tourist SpA for the construction of a new Ro/Ro Pax ferry. The vessel, named Elio, is the first liquefied natural gas (LNG) powered ferry to sail the Mediterranean.
