Mills & Reeve has advised Birmingham City University (BCU) on the relocation of the Birmingham Conservatoire to a new £40 million purpose-built facility in Eastside.

Our real estate team, led by partner Tim Allsop, advised BCU on the negotiation and exchange of the agreement to relocate the Conservatoire from its current home at Paradise Circus to a site adjoining Millennium Point, adjacent to Jennens Road.

Dentons Sports Law Team advise on hosting Indian Premier League in the UAE

UAE 3 April 2014: Dentons Sports Team advised Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) on the recently announced hosting of the Pepsi Indian Premier League (IPL) in the UAE. The Dentons team assisted ECB with the negotiation of the hosting agreement with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the back-to-back hosting agreements with stadia in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah and ticketing arrangements with Ticketmaster.

WFW advises Bomin Linde LNG on a contract with Aktien-Gesellschaft EMS for the first regular delivery of marine LNG in Germany

Watson, Farley & Williams (“WFW”), a leading international law firm, is pleased to announce that it has advised Bomin Linde LNG GmbH & Co. KG (“Bomin Linde LNG”) on the first supply agreement in Germany for the delivery of liquefied natural gas (“LNG”) as marine fuel. The low-emission propulsion fuel will be delivered to the shipping company Aktien-Gesellschaft EMS (“AG EMS”) for one of its ferries in the German port of Emden.

Rail team advise on Northern Rail franchise agreement

Stephenson Harwood LLP advised Great Britain’s largest train operator Northern Rail and its joint venture owners, on the negotiation and signing of its 22 month single tender award franchise agreement (where a contract is awarded to a single provider) with the Department for Transport . The new franchise agreement is effective from today, with services under the new agreement commencing on 1 April. The firm is also appointed to advise Northern Rail and its joint venture partners on its bid to run the next Northern franchise, which is expected to commence bidding shortly.

Hogan Lovells Assists YBI and JPMorgan in Creation of Youth Business Spain

After several initiatives with Youth Business International (YBI) in the UK, Hogan Lovells has now provided legal support in the creation of Youth Business Spain (YBS).

On 11 March, YBS was formally established as a Spanish private foundation by its founders Fundación Tomillo (Madrid), CP'AC (Catalonia) and Gaztempresa (Basque Country). These non-profit organisations have been promoting social entrepreneurship in their respective regions over previous decades.

Burges Salmon has advised the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) in the competition that has led to the appointment of Cavendish Fluor Partnership as the preferred bidder to take over ownership of Magnox Limited and Research Sites Restoration Ltd.

The other participants were CAS Restoration Partnership (CH2M Hill, Areva and SERCO), UK Nuclear Restoration Ltd (AMEC, Atkins, Rolls Royce) and Reactor Site Solutions (Energy Solutions and Bechtel).

Hill Dickinson advises Everton on renewal of the longest shirt sponsorship deal in the Premier League

Hill Dickinson has acted for Everton Football Club (FC) in the renewal of its main sponsor agreement with Chang International, which will see the now well-known Chang elephant logo appear on Everton shirts for the next three years.

Led by Sue Russell and Megan Bentham in Hill Dickinson’s Liverpool corporate team, the agreement is currently the longest running shirt sponsorship deal in the Premier League. Sue Russell advised on the original agreement in 2004 as well as the subsequent renewals in 2005, 2008 and 2010.
