Irwin Mitchell Advises On Two Rotherham School Academy Conversions

Irwin Mitchell has advised on the conversion of Maltby Lilly Hall Primary School and Ravenfield Primary School into becoming Academies. Both Schools Join Forward-Thinking Maltby Learning Trust 

As part of their conversion on 1 March 2015, both schools have also joined the Maltby Learning Trust (MLT).

Formed in February 2014, MLT is a Multi-Academy Trust (MAT) which is already made up of Maltby Academy, Maltby Redwood Academy and Maltby Manor Academy.

A$2.1bn Sydney light rail project reaches financial close

With Ashurst as legal advisers, Transport for NSW (TfNSW) has achieved financial close on its contract with the ALTRAC consortium for the design, construction, operation and maintenance of the new A$2.1bn Sydney CBD and South East Light Rail (CSELR) line.

The NSW Government had announced in October that the consortium, consisting of Alstom, Transdev, Acciona and Capella Capital, was the preferred bidder for the project which would see a light rail line run from Circular Quay along George Street to Moore Park, then on to Kingsford and Randwick.

Hamburg is getting ready for a further increase in the number of asylum seekers. Currently, over 5,000 refugees are accommodated at four locations. By the end of the year, the number of people that need to be provided humane accommodation and food in Hamburg is expected to reach more than 6,000.
 

DLA Piper advises Stobart Group on Margam Biomass plant

DLA Piper has advised Stobart Group Limited (Stobart) on the signing of a 14 year index-linked fuel supply agreement with Glenmont Partners in relation to a project to construct a 40MW waste wood-fuelled biomass plant to be constructed at Margam, South Wales.

Stobart Energy will supply 250,000 tonnes p.a. of recycled waste wood to Margam over 14 years and will also be responsible for transporting the waste wood material to the plant. The build period will be 24-26 months, with commissioning scheduled for early 2017 and operations due to commence in March 2017.

Ashurst advised 12 Korean auto part makers/service providers ('suppliers') on their US$1 billion agreement to supply parts to Kia Motors ('Kia'), which is building an assembly plant in Nuevo Leon, Mexico.

The twelve suppliers are Daehan Solution, Donghee Industrial, Dongwon Metal, Hanil E-Hwa, Hyundai Dymos, Hyundai Glovis, Hyundai Hysco, Hyundai Mobis, Hyundai Powertech, Hyundai Wia, Sejong Industrial and Sungwoo Hitech.

Nabarro has advised London House Exchange Limited, trading as Property Partner, on the establishment of its crowdfunding platform, which launched last week. Property Partner enables people to invest in individual residential properties, just as they can in company stocks. They then receive a monthly rental income — and benefit from any capital growth — in direct proportion to their ownership. The platform also enables investors to offer their property holdings for sale via a designated secondary market.
