Setterwalls has advised the "National Museums of World Culture" (the Museum of Far Eastern Antiquities) in connection with the exhibition "City by the Silk Road" through an agreement of cooperation with Henan province showing spectacular objects from the Chinese megacity of Luoyang during the Tang Dynasty.

The Swedish museums were advised by Setterwalls' partner Håkan Fohlin.

LEG Immobilien AG and Deutsche Wohnen AG have signed an agreement on the business combination of the companies. The combination shall be structured as voluntary offer of Deutsche Wohnen AG to the shareholders of LEG Immobilien AG to tender their LEG shares in exchange for Deutsche Wohnen shares. Deutsche Wohnen intends to offer 3.30 newly-issued Deutsche Wohnen shares in exchange for one LEG share. The newly-issued shares of Deutsche Wohnen AG shall carry dividend rights for the period starting on January 1, 2015.

King & Wood Mallesons has advised the US fund Ares Management on the establishment of a €500 million joint venture with the Dutch real estate company Redevco for the acquisition of commercial real estate assets in Spain and Portugal.

The joint venture will be seeded with a combination of assets provided by Redevco and Ares Management and will complete its investment commitments in the next few months. Redevco will manage the joint venture company and its assets.

Eversheds has advised the Department for Transport (DfT) on a new passenger rail franchise agreement with Stagecoach Group subsidiary, East Midlands Trains (EMT), to operate the East Midlands franchise.

Under the deal, East Midlands Trains will continue to run services between London, the East Midlands and parts of the north of England until March 2018, but will also deliver a host of improvements for passengers, backed by £13 million of investment.

Slaughter and May is advising AngloGold Ashanti (AGA) on its proposed joint venture with Randgold Resources (Randgold) to redevelop and operate AGA’s Obuasi gold mine. Obuasi is a large, high-grade deposit located in the Ashanti region of Ghana. Randgold will lead and fund a development plan designed to rebuild Obuasi as a viable, long-life mining business. AGA and Randgold will then be jointly responsible for funding the redevelopment of Obuasi in line with the agreed development plan. Randgold will be appointed operator of the mine.

DLA Piper advised Binatone Global, a leading provider of Internet of Things (IoT)-connected consumer electronics and lifestyle products, in its acquisition of exclusive licensing rights to design, develop and market a range of consumer mobile accessory products on a global basis from Motorola Mobility, including Bluetooth headsets, wireless speakers and car connectivity products.          

Slaughter and May is advising COSCO Pacific Limited (CPL) on the formation of its joint venture with China Merchants Holdings (International) Company Limited (CMHI) and China Investment Corporation (CIC) for the proposed acquisition of approximately 65% of Kumport Terminal. The remaining shares are owned by the State General Reserve Fund of the Sultanate of Oman (SGRF).

Clifford Chance advised Saudia Aerospace Engineering Industries on an aerospace and defence joint venture between Boeing, Alsalam Aircraft Company, and Saudia Aerospace Engineering Industries.

The joint venture signed on 26 August and the centre will support the Kingdom’s commercial and defence rotorcraft platforms, including the Boeing-built AH-64 Apache, CH-47 Chinook and AH-6. It will be a fully integrated support centre for the repair and overhaul of helicopters in Jeddah and Riyadh.
