Ashurst advises Oxford Instruments on JV with GD Intressenter AB

Ashurst advised Oxford Instruments, a leading provider of high technology tools and systems for industry and research, on its joint venture with GDI to create the world's largest player in the highly specialised Ultra High Vacuum Surface Science field. The joint venture comprises Oxford Instruments' Omicron NanoTechnology and its associated subsidiaries and GDI's Scienta Scientific and associated subsidiaries.

Olswang advises Viacom on extension of commercial partnership with Sky in UK and Ireland

Olswang has advised Viacom International Media Networks on a five-year extension of its commercial partnership with Sky in the UK and Ireland. The arrangement ensures Viacom's popular pay TV channels - including Comedy Central, MTV, Nickelodeon and VH1 - will continue to be available via Sky under extended affiliate arrangements.

Wragge Lawrence Graham & Co plays key role in establishing the first solar farm in Sierra Leone

The cross-firm Energy team at Wragge Lawrence Graham & Co has advised Africa Growth and Energy Services (AGES) on the drafting of a series of project documents to support a landmark renewable project in Sierra Leone. Part of the country's strategy to use renewables to aid its huge power shortage, it will see the creation of an up to 20MW solar farm to serve the cities of Bo and Kenema.

Schiphol Group sells 60% of shares in Schiphol Airport Retail to Gebr. Heinemann

De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek advised Schiphol Group on establishing a joint venture with Gebr. Heinemann for the retail operations of liquor, tobacco and confectionary in the shopping area after ticket and passport control at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol.

Gebr. Heinemann takes a 60% stake in Schiphol Airport Retail (SAR), Schiphol Group keeps 40% of the shares. The joint venture will continue to operate under the name of Schiphol Airport Retail (SAR).

De Brauw acted as legal counsel to Schiphol and Michael Schouten was lead partner.

Bird & Bird advises Tortilla on its first international expansion in the Middle East

Bird & Bird's Franchising, Licensing and Multi-Channel strategies team has advised Tortilla, the Quilvest-backed fast-casual Mexican restaurant concept, on its strategic entry and expansion across the GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council). Tortilla has signed a franchising deal with Dubai based development partner Eathos to open over 30 stores across the GCC in the next 10 years.

AstraZeneca and MedImmune, its global biologics research and development arm, have entered into a $1.275 billion co-development and commercialization agreement with Innate Pharma SA, a biopharmaceutical company developing therapeutic antibodies for the treatment of cancer.

Wragge Lawrence Graham & Co's life sciences experts, led by partner Patrick Duxbury, advised AstraZeneca on the suite of agreements governing this complex transaction.
