CMS advises on Motors.co.uk sale to eBay

CMS has advised global automotive services provider, Cox Automotive UK, on the sale of its consumer-facing car search business, Motors.co.uk, to eBay. The completion is subject to competition clearance and expected to take place in early 2019. If approved, the deal will see Motors.co.uk join Gumtree UK, an eBay Classifieds business.

Cox Automotive is a long-standing client of the firm. CMS recently advised the multinational on a joint venture with Auto Trader Group plc to create ‘Dealer Auction’ – an online auction service for wholesale vehicles in the UK.

Taylor Wessing completes sale of cryptocurrency exchange Bitstamp

International law firm Taylor Wessing has completed the 80% sale of Bitstamp to Brussels-based investment firm, NXMH.

Founded in the UK in 2011, Bitstamp is the world's longest standing cryptocurrency exchange and the EU's largest by volume, with more than three million registered customers.

Following the deal, Bitstamp customers can expect improvements in user experience, customer service, trading functions and other operations. The company will continue to provide a robust, safe and secure trading environment.

DWF advises on $81m cross-border sale of leading manufacturer of metal powders for 3D printing

DWF Manchester has advised LPW Technology, a leading manufacturer of ultra-clean Additive Manufacturing (AM) metal powders used for 3D printing, on its sale to USA industry giant, Carpenter Technology Corporation.

The Widnes-based business - which also has a presence near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania - provides state-of-the-art metal powder to clients all over the world to support 3D modelling production. LPW has also recently invested in automisation and software capability and is at the forefront of metal powder Additive Manufacturing.

Schulte Advises Noventis in Acquisition by WEX

Schulte advised Noventis, an electronic payments network focused on optimizing payment delivery for bills and invoices to commercial entities, as payments regulatory counsel, in its sale to WEX Inc., a leading provider of corporate payments solutions. The transaction will expand WEX’s corporate payments business while also enhancing Noventis’ offerings to its customers. The transaction was announced on Oct. 22, 2018 and is expected to close the first half of 2019.
