Hogan Lovells Advises Liberty Global on $1Bn Chellomedia Sale

Hogan Lovells has advised Liberty Global on the disposal of its international content division, Chellomedia, to AMC Networks Inc. for $1 billion. The deal was announced on Monday 28 October.

Chellomedia is a leading producer and distributor of television channels, including joint ventures with CBS International, A+E Networks, Zon Optimus and certain other partners, which are being sold in addition to Chello Multicanal, Chello Central Europe, Chello Zone, Chello Latin America and Chello DMC.

Liu Chong Hing Investment and Chong Hing Bank - pre-conditional voluntary cash partial offer by Yue Xiu Enterprises for shares in Chong Hing Bank

Slaughter and May is advising Liu Chong Hing Investment Limited (LCHI) and its subsidiary, Chong Hing Bank Limited (CHB), a Hong Kong-based commercial bank, on the pre-conditional voluntary cash partial offer to be made by Yue Xiu Enterprises (Holdings) Limited (Yuexiu) for up to 75% of the shares in CHB, and on the acquisition by LCHI of CHB's headquarters property for a consideration of HK$2,230 million (US$288 million) and the leaseback of parts of the property to CHB.

Linklaters has advised Arcapita, a global alternative investment management firm, on the sale of its European logistics warehousing business, PointPark Properties (P3) to TPG, a leading global investment firm, and Ivanhoe Cambridge, one of the world’s largest real estate companies (and a partner of TPG).

Bird & Bird assists vendors as Uvet Viaggi Turismo acquires Flygpoolen

The Italian travel management company Uvet Viaggi Turismo has acquired the Swedish travelling portal Flygpoolen. Bird & Bird has assisted the sellers together with Avantus Corporate Finance.

Flygpoolen was established in 1998 and today cooperates with close to 500 airlines, 20 car-rental companies and 50 000 hotels worldwide.  The main business areas are e-commerce, sales towards travel agencies and group and conference travel. In 2012 the company had a turnover of MSEK 742 and close to 200 000 travellers travelled with Flygpoolen.

Travers Smith acts on the acquisition of Byron Hamburgers Limited

A Travers Smith team including private equity partner Ian Shawyer, senior partner Chris Hale and senior corporate associate Adam Orr has advised management on the acquisition of Byron Hamburgers Limited ("Byron"). Byron was acquired by investment funds managed by Hutton Collins Partners.

Byron operates from 34 locations in the UK and its management team is led by founder Tom Byng.  Byron was sold by the Gondola Group – the restaurant group which includes Pizza Express, Zizzi, Ask restaurants and Kettner's.
