DLA Piper advises LINX on its successful bid to operate Sydney's Enfield Intermodal Terminal

22 Feb 2018

DLA Piper has advised logistics infrastructure and solutions provider LINX Cargo Care Group on its successful bid to operate the Enfield Intermodal Terminal in Western Sydney. The Enfield Intermodal Terminal was previously operated by Aurizon.

The transaction involved the acquisition of rollingstock and related rail assets and the leasing and operation of the 15.1 hectare NSW Ports-owned Enfield Intermodal Terminal located 18 kilometres from Port Botany in Sydney’s west. The terminal includes warehousing and buildings with vacant land for the development of freight forwarding, IMEX (Import and Export), transport and distribution facilities.

The DLA Piper team was led by partner Grant Koch and special counsel Amit Jois, and included senior foreign legal associate Jonathan Higgs and solicitor Jack McDonell.

Grant Koch said: "We are delighted to have advised LINX on this strategic transaction to grow its rail capabilities."

Amit Jois added: "This transaction aligns with NSW Ports' objective to increase the number of containers moved by rail to and from Port Botany, and provides LINX the opportunity to expand the intermodal and rail services at Enfield and develop solutions to manage the expected growth in freight volumes and forecast increase in road and rail congestion across Sydney."
