Addleshaw Goddard has advised Sainsbury's on their high profile, strategic joint venture with Dansk Supermarket to create the new Netto grocery chain in the UK.
The Addleshaw Goddard team was led by Andrew Rosling (corporate), Jonathan Davey (commercial) and Bruce Kilpatrick (competition). Linklaters advised Dansk Supermarket with a team led by corporate/M&A partner Paul McNicholl.
This is the second recent high-profile joint venture on which Addleshaw Goddard has advised the 'top 4' supermarket, as the firm advised Sainsbury's on their partnership with Vodafone last year, providing guidance on a range of key commercial arrangements.
Commenting on the deal, Addleshaw Goddard's Sainsbury's relationship partner Jonathan Davey said: "The deal sees a bold move from Sainsbury's to enter the discount grocery market – bringing the Netto brand back to the UK and expanding Sainsbury's market share in an increasingly competitive industry.
"This is a significant collaboration for our client and we were pleased to be able to support Sainsbury's in seizing this opportunity to further its long-term strategic goals."
