Addleshaw Goddard has advised Barclaycard, the global payments business of Barclays Bank PLC, on its acquisition of The Logic Group, a leading UK managed payments company that provides payment and loyalty technology and solutions to a wide range of the UK’s leading brands.
Support on the acquisition, which is expected to complete later this year subject to competition authority approval, was led by William James and Hugh Lauritsen, a partner and managing associate respectively in Addleshaw Goddard's Financial Service Transactions and specialist payments teams and assisted by associates Laura Dauny and Stuart Smith.
Addleshaw Goddard was reappointed in July to Barclays' legal panel as a preferred firm, and has supported Barclaycard on a number of previous transactions including Barclaycard's investment in RS2 Software, its acquisition of the Egg credit card portfolio and acquisition of the SME commercial cards business from MBNA.
Commenting on the deal, Addleshaw Goddard's William James said: "This is an exciting and commercially strategic deal for Barclaycard, providing them with a suite of products and services from loyalty programmes and key data insights to payment acceptance capabilities. We are proud to have played a part in our client's growth and commitment to investment which firmly places them at the forefront of innovation in the payments arena."
