The firm advises ABN Amro and Allianz on the financing of the recently acquired property “The Atrium” at the South-Axis in Amsterdam.
International law firm Simmons & Simmons has advised ABN Amro and certain Allianz entities on the financing of the recently acquired property “The Atrium” at the South-Axis in Amsterdam by funds managed by French investors Amundi Real Estate and Korean investors.
With a financing amount of around EUR 300m, the transaction is the most remarkable single asset financing transaction in the Netherlands to date.
Transactions in the Dutch real estate market are growing in deal size and in terms of complexity, requiring in-depth knowledge of both real estate markets and financing structures. The Simmons & Simmons team was led by real estate finance partner Jan-Joost van Rijsbergen, who recently joined the expanding Amsterdam Financial Markets team.
Jan-Joost van Rijsbergen, partner comments on “The Atrium” building: ‘‘The Atrium building is very close to us. Not only can we see it from our offices - it is in fact right across the road – but we have also been involved and have seen it change over the years. It is great to see The Atrium becoming the most attractive multi-tenant office buildings at the South-Axis in Amsterdam, certainly with its renewed Center Building and the newly added North Tower and South Tower.”
Jan-Joost continues: “The Atrium was a very challenging financing structure, with a wide range of international parties involved. These factors make it a very exciting project for our team and we are proud to have been advising the financiers.”
Jan-Joost van Rijsbergen was assisted by supervising associate Dirk-Jan Gerrits and junior associate Jaap van der Steenhoven.
