Advising RCMA Group on Acquisition of Plexus Cotton’s Cotton Trading Business

19 Jan 2016

Simmons & Simmons has advised RCMA Group on its acquisition of the UK cotton trading business of Liverpool-headquartered company Plexus Cotton.

RCMA Group is a Singapore-based commodities trader which specialises in rubber, cotton, sugar, coffee and energy. The acquisition of Plexus’ business further enhances RCMA Group’s commodities business.

Commenting on the transaction, corporate partner Damian Adams, said: “We were very pleased to have once again had the opportunity to represent RCMA, building on our experience of having advised them on previous transactions. While we were able to provide RCMA with front-line support and advice from our team in Singapore, the UK nexus of the transaction meant that we could also involve and draw on the experience of a first-rate team of colleagues in our London office, dealing with a number of tricky issues that the transaction presented. This deal showcased very well the firm’s end-to-end cross-border M&A capability.”

The Simmons & Simmons team was led by Singapore-based partner Damian Adams, assisted by associates Kim Farrar and Kelvin Goh in Singapore, as well as Andrea Finn, Elizabeth Wake, Edward Smith and Peter Broadhurst from the firm’s London office, who advised on UK employment, pensions and competition issues respectively.
