Allen & Overy LLP has advised Commerzbank Aktiengesellschaft in connection with the financing for the Buissons wind farm in France. The wind farm consists of 7 Vestas, V117-3.45 turbines and has a total capacity of 24.15 megawatt. The project developer and operator of the wind farm is Volkswind GmbH, a member of the Swiss AXPO group, which is one of the leading project developers in Germany and abroad.
Dr. Jens Gölz, who led the Allen & Overy team advising on the transaction, stated: "We are pleased to have completed this transaction in such a short time period. It is one of the last projects to fall under the old French feed-in tariff system set out in the "17 June 2014 Order". Completion could only be achieved so quickly thanks to the excellent cooperation between the teams led by CEO Katja Stommel from Volkswind and Henrik Meyer at Commerzbank."
The structured financing was carried out by Commerzbank Aktiengesellschaft's Competence Center Energy (head office in Hamburg). With a credit volume in the order of EUR 4.9 billion in project financings and EUR 1.5 billion in corporate financings, it is one of the leading finance providers in the renewable energies sector.
The Allen & Overy team comprised partner Peter Stenz, counsel Dr. Jens Gölz, senior associate Kathrin Pätzold-Schwarz, associates André Melchert and Julia Spiegelmacher (all Energy, Projects and Infrastructure, Frankfurt). Senior associates Arthur Sauzay (Public Law) and Amine Bourabiat (Banking) from the Paris office were also involved.
