Slaughter and May advised on the sale by AMF Bowling Holdings Limited (AMF Bowling) and private equity investors CBPE Capital LLP of The Original Bowling Company (TOBC) to Electra Partners LLP, with total funding for the deal amounting to £91 million. TOBC is the largest UK ten-pin bowling operator with 43 bowling centres under the 'Hollywood Bowl' and 'AMF' brands.
The transaction, which completed on 5 September 2014, represented the exit from the joint venture investment made by AMF Bowling and CBPE Capital in August 2010 which involved, amongst other things, the acquisition of Hollywood Bowl from Mitchells & Butler.
