On February 9, 2016, the Republic of Argentina announced that Cravath will be representing the country in connection with ongoing litigations concerning the Republic’s sovereign debt issuances and related debt restructuring and capital markets issues.
Argentina defaulted on approximately $80 billion in sovereign debt in 2001 and has since been working to restructure its debt, reach agreements with its various bondholders and reestablish its presence in international capital markets. Cravath will be representing the Republic in connection with those issues, including the remaining proceedings in long-standing litigations between Argentina and its defaulted bondholders pending in United States District Court for the Southern District of New York.
The Cravath team is led by partner Michael A. Paskin and includes partners Daniel Slifkin, John D. Buretta and Damaris Hernandez on litigation matters and partners David Mercado, Paul H. Zumbro and Craig F. Arcella on corporate matters.
