Ashurst advises Abertis on €948m acquisition from AIMCo

28 Jan 2016

Ashurst has advised Abertis Infraestructuras S.A. on the €948 million acquisition from Alberta Investment Management Corporation (AIMCo) of the 50% interest in Chile's Autopista Central toll road that Abertis does not already own.

Autopista Central is Chile's premium toll road asset, and the country's busiest road. The acquisition gives Abertis full control of the ownership of the concession, which expires in 2031, and is in keeping with its strategy in recent years of boosting control over its investments. It also doubles the volume of Abertis' business in Chile, making it Abertis' third largest market in terms of EBITDA behind France and Spain.

Ashurst's cross-border team was led by London corporate partners Tom Mercer and Nick Rainsford and Madrid corporate partner María José Menéndez, assisted by senior associate Aaron Shute and solicitors Jacob Gold and Emma Bernstein in London.

Luxembourg law advice was provided by partner Isabelle Lentz and senior associate Paul Witte and Swedish law advice was provided by partner Pontus Bergsten assisted by senior associate Erica Hegerin and associates Simon Hahn and Rasmus Lüning in Stockholm.
