Ashurst advises Infinis on project financing for the construction of Galawhistle Wind Farm in Scotland

19 Jun 2015

Ashurst advised Infinis Energy plc, a leading independent generator of renewable power in the UK, on the £83 million project financing for the Galawhistle Wind Farm on the borders of South Lanarkshire and East Ayrshire.

The wind farm, under development since 2007, will have 22 turbines with an installed capacity of 66MW. First exported power is expected by November 2016, and it is anticipated that Galawhistle will generate electricity for 25 years. Santander Global Banking & Markets and Barclays Bank acted as joint lead arrangers.

The Ashurst team was led by partner Antony Skinner, assisted by counsel Nicholas Hilder, senior associates Pete Grayson and Nicholas Ross-McCall and associates Alex Bartho, Michelle Davenport and Hugh Nolan.

Commenting, Antony Skinner said:

"Given the forthcoming end of the ROC regime in the UK, speed of execution for this transaction was key and the sponsors and lenders, together with their advisers worked as a team to achieve this challenging project timetable."
