Asmodee group, a leading international publisher and distributor of board games, trading card games and role-playing games, today announced the acquisition of Bergsala Enigma Danmark A/S, a leading distributor of collectible cards and board games in the Nordics and the Netherlands. Going forward, Bergsala Enigma will operate under its original name, Enigma Distribution.

The acquisition of Enigma Distribution represents a valuable add-on for Asmodee and an increased focus on the Nordics and the Netherlands. The combination of Asmodee’s product catalogue and Enigma Distribution’s network in the Nordics and in the Netherlands offers an opportunity for Asmodee to reach new markets with new games.

Enigma Distribution’s current CEO, Albin Kristensson, and its current CFO, Jesper Danker, will both continue in the company after the acquisition. They founded Enigma Distribution in 2004 and were among the selling shareholders, which also included the Swedish games distributor Bergsala group.

Enigma Distribution is a leading distributor of board games (Sequence, Settlers of Catan, Ticket to Ride, Game of Thrones, Bezzerwizzer, etc.), collectible cards (Pokémon, Magic the Gathering, Adrenalyn XL, Yu-Gi-Oh, etc.) and other trend products (Domino Express, puzzles, photo cards, desk mats, posters, etc.). Enigma Distribution is headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark, and also has operations in Sweden, Norway, Finland and the Netherlands.

Asmodee group is a leading international games publisher and distributor based in Guyancourt, France, with operations in Europe, North America and China. Asmodee’s best known titles, either published or distributed on behalf of key publishing partners, include Catan, Ticket to Ride, Splendor, Dobble/Spot it!, Star Wars: X-Wing, 7 Wonders, Dixit and Timeline. Asmodee group is owned by the French investment fund Eurazeo, which acquired the group in 2013.
