Baker & McKenzie advises Cargill on construction of port terminal in Yuzhni, Ukraine

Baker & McKenzie is acting as legal counsel to Cargill, a leading international agricultural company, in respect of an agreement between representatives of Cargill and MV Cargo to enable the construction by MV Cargo of a new port terminal in Yuzhni, Ukraine.  The investment will be worth around USD $100 million.

The new terminal will allow for the handling of large vessels, delivering Ukrainian grain to markets all over the world. Construction of the terminal will begin on 27 February 2016 and is expected to be completed by the spring of 2018.

The Baker & McKenzie cross-border transaction team was led by Partner Nick O'Donnell in London alongside Olyana Gordiyenko in Kyiv, with key support from senior associates Phelim O'Doherty and Tharani Dharmaraj in London, legal director Max von Verschuer in Amsterdam and associates Olena Kuchynska and Nadiia Filozop in Kyiv. Commenting on the transaction, Nick O'Donnell said: "We are delighted to be advising Cargill on this milestone investment in Ukraine and look forward to supporting the investment through to ribbon cutting".
