BCLP has successfully acted for Wightlink Limited, a ferry company operating routes between Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, on the delivery of its flagship ‘Victoria of Wight’.
The successful delivery of ‘Victoria of Wight’ was an important milestone for Wightlink as it marks the completion of Wightlink’s £45m investment programme in to future services.
Construction of ‘Victoria of Wight’ commenced in November 2016 by Turkish shipyard, Cemre, following extensive negotiation of the shipbuilding contract earlier that year. The BCLP team advised Wightlink throughout the life of the transaction, from negotiation of the shipbuilding contract, during the build-phase and through to completion.
“Victoria of Wight” uses hybrid battery technology and has innovative green features including recycling energy from the lifts and using surplus heat from the engines to warm passenger areas. “Victoria of Wight” is expected to enter in to service in August 2018.
The BCLP team consisted of Rebecca Quayle, Deborah Boddy and Bryony Choy from the Transport & Asset Finance team based in London.
